A SPECIAL NOTE TO OUR SUPPORTERS

In the past year, we have witnessed a profound transformation within Nurture the Next. This time also carried particular significance for me: a celebration of my two-decade journey with our organization. My tenure here began when we were known as Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee and a fraction of its present-day scope and influence. If I could revisit those early days, the remarkable growth and transformative impact we have achieved today would have exceeded even my wildest imaginings.

The past year, however, didn’t only mark milestones and anniversaries. It also served as a reminder that change is often unavoidable and necessary for growth. For many years, we proudly held the mantle of operating the Tennessee Statewide Domestic Violence Helpline, serving as a vital lifeline for thousands of survivors in dire need of assistance and resources. After thoughtful consideration, we made a strategic decision to transfer its operations to another statewide entity, believing that our team's talents and skills could be best harnessed elsewhere and that our community could be better served if we concentrated our efforts on children aged 0-5. This decision signifies Nurture the Next's reinvestment in our core mission: supporting families with young children. Additionally, the invaluable lessons drawn from our NurtureTN program pilot underscored the significance of adaptability and the capacity to respond to the ever-evolving needs of our families. While this program will not continue at this time, it was an invaluable resource during the pandemic, and we now have the data and infrastructure in place should it ever be appropriate to implement at a larger scale in the future.

As we approach 2024, a landmark year marking our organization’s 40th anniversary, our vision to see all children and families thriving in safe, stable, and nurturing communities will continue to be our guidepost. Whether by incorporating pertinent programming with a demonstrated track record of success or by harnessing the momentum of our record-breaking fundraising that makes our services possible, our commitment to excellence remains steadfast and resolute.
